Presentation
This department conducts basic and applied research in computer science. It is involved in two main research: artificial intelligence and pattern recognition. The first area is centered on the development of multimodal conversational systems with speech recognition in Mexican Spanish; other projects involve mobile robots, diagrammatic reasoning, computer vision and construction of genetic networks with model cheeking. The second area encompasses the representation and analysis of three-dimensional objects, the recognition of Mesoamerican symbols, the analysis of images of the retina, the analysis of images from electron microscopy, the recognition of objects and optical cryptography. Additionally, the department maintains a research interest in combinational design.
