could also enhance empathy for others or speed thought to give some people a
"neurocompetitive advantage." Many of those advances will come slowly, Lynch
said. But others could arrive suddenly, he predicts -- creating new
opportunities, new ethical conundrums and deep cultural changes. "We've learned
more about the brain in the last five years than we did in the last 50 years,"
