Oral narratives represent a vital, yet often undervalued, source for understanding how the different communities interpret, inhabit, and remember the world. Despite their epistemic richness, they have long been marginalized within academic canons. This article addresses the challenge of integrating oral knowledge into rigorous processes of documentation, analysis, and preservation by developing collaborative methodologies and technologies attuned to its complexity. Here, we present what we have named: “Digital Itinerant Community-based Library/Museum model” a dynamic platform built upon digital repositories, deep mapping, and semantic cartograms, which aims to revitalize oral narratives in Nahuatl, a living Indigenous language still spoken in the Sierra de Zongolica, Mexico, through a critical recontextualization within their cultural and spatial referents. This model proposes an alternative to conventional archival practices by enabling communities to manage, curate, and share their stories through an interactive interface that brings geography, history, and memory into dialogue. The use of computational tools does not replace the oral or situated nature of knowledge but amplifies its potential by connecting it to new modes of visualization, navigation, and analysis. Based on an initial collaborative annotation workshop held in Mixtla de Altamirano, the article explores the challenges and possibilities of constructing historical discourse from the margins, through a decolonial lens and an ethics of accompaniment. This experience suggests that the critical use of digital humanities, grounded in community-driven and participatory methodologies, can destabilize traditional epistemic hierarchies and open new pathways for historical production. The Digital Itinerant Community-based Library/Museum thus emerges as a transformative model for placing oral narratives/histories at the center of academic debates on heritage, memory, and epistemic justice in the Global South
